Pony-O Tutorial by Kim O'Connell

Kim here with a quick and easy tutorial on how to make Pony-O's!

Choose as many ribbons as you'd like to start.  My daughter doesn't like anything TOO frilly so I only chose three ribbons to make her a Pony-O to match her soccer uniform.

I cut my three strands of ribbon at 18" each.
I am using some 1" black satin reversible satin stitched edge ribbon,  5/8" red Swiss dot satin ribbon, and some black and white 1/2" gingham ribbon.

I cut the tailed and heat sealed them by using a lighter and quickly moving it over the edges of the ribbon.I couldn't take a picture of that since both hands were occupied.  :)

Layer the ribbons on top of one another and fold them in half to find the center of the ribbon.   Stitch from the underside through the center of the layered ribbon and pull it all the way through to the knot at the end of the thread.

Now wrap the thread tightly around the ribbons several times cinching the ribbons in the center.

Flip it over and place a hair elastic over the cinched ribbon and then continue wrapping the thread around to secure the elastic to the ribbons.

When you get to the end of the thread, stitch through the ribbon to secure it and tie it off.

Cut a 1.5" strip of ribbon.  Using a hot glue gun, adhere one end of the ribbon to the top of the hair band where it is secured to the ribbon.

Wrap it around twice and secure the other end to the under side to complete.

And here's how it looks on my soccer super star Lauren!
