When I blogged about this week's Shining Star, I mentioned that you should be on the look out for another tutorial from one of our Crewmates. Yesterday, I looked to see who was on deck for this week's tutorial and lo and behold, it's MOI!
Teacher Appreciation Week begins Monday, May 7th, so I thought I would do a tutorial on a skinny notepad for teachers!
Here are the basic supplies you will need. I will tell what I used to decorate my skinny notepad as we go:
5 11/16" x 8 1/2" piece of CS
2 5/8" x 8" piece of CS or designer paper
1 3/4" x 3 1/2" piece of designer paper
Corner Chomper
Score tape
Ribbon
RSVP pen
Start by scoring the 5 11/16" x 8 1/2" piece of CS at 2 3/4" and 2 15/16"
Fold on the scored lines and then round the corners of your notepad holder
as well as two corners on your 2 5/8" x 8" piece of designer paper.
I used my corner chomper.
Add Score Tape to the back of your notepad.
Adhere the notepad right along the 2nd score line of your notepad holder.
Decorate your 2 5/8" x 8" piece of CS as desired. Red and black the our town's colors so I stuck with that. I used the PTI Teacher's Apple stamp set and the SU A-Z stamp. Adhere that panel to the front of the skinny notepad holder.
Tie a bow around the skinny notepad holder with the ribbon of your choice.
I LOVE this 1/2" antique ruler twill ribbon.
This 1/2" alphabet twill ribbon would be perfect, too!
Twist open the RSVP and pull out the ink. Tightly roll your coordinating 1 3/4" x3 1/2" piece of designer paper around it and insert back into the barrel of the pen. Tuck the pen under the bow to complete the set.
This is such a quick and inexpensive thing to make! I have made things as wedding favors for someone and tied in the wedding colors with the ribbon and they were a big hit. They are good token gifts for co-workers. These are always good sellers at craft fairs, too. Hope you enjoyed the tutorial!
Whew! You scared me there for a minute as I thought you were gonna say Teacher Appreciation starts next week! Glad to know I have some what of plenty of time to get cracking on my gifts. Love the skinny notepad. Thanks for the tutorial. Love how cute yours turned out. That ribbon is too adorable.
ReplyDeleteThat is so adorable!!! Love it girl!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME idea!!!! I was tempted to buy this SWEET teacher's stamp set but the cost was 18.00. A bit much for me right now especially since this is DD's last year in elementary. I plan to make some teacher gifts the next 3 years in middle school...but 18.00 right now is pricey. THIS HOWEVER, is a stunning gift with a low cost!!! I just looked up the PTI pads 10 for $6.00....I can do that! TFS this awesome idea!!!!!
ReplyDeletecute little gift
